HOME IMPROVEMENT | REMODELING | ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE | REFURBISHING | NEW CONSTRUCTION
Clint Shaw General Contractor
“When you hire me, you get me, not a band of handymen.”
I am a licensed general building contractor with over 26 years of experience in the fields of construction and design. I have worked on both residential and commercial projects throughout California. My areas of expertise include the creative use of antique and reclaimed architectural salvage materials in environmentally sensitive ways and restoration and refurbishing of old and historic homes. I specialize in building within existing home footprints and providing creative solutions to add space and storage. I draw from my background in metal working, welding, and the arts to create detailed cabinetry, metal work, custom oven vent hoods, and complex tile surfaces.
“When you hire me, you get me”
I do most, if not all, of the work myself. I pay special attention to every detail and work closely with my clients to complete each project cost effectively, efficiently, and to the highest possible standards. I enjoy long term relationships with my clients and many call me again for new projects. I work locally in the Bay Area with a select list of clients and sometimes travel to Southern California for special projects. My project list is maintained to permit my complete involvement in each project. My hands-on approach from start to finish affords each project the greatest benefit from my experience.
“They don’t make ‘em like they used to”
“They don’t make ‘em like they used to” is a common lament about houses – and contractors. The quality materials and craftsmanship that were once integral to the building process years ago have, for the most part, been sacrificed for quick, cheap construction in today’s homes.
One of the greatest pleasures of restoring older homes is the opportunity to rediscover their original character by restoring features that have been covered up, destroyed or removed. I recognize the benefits of assessing, removing, reconditioning, and reusing architectural salvage like windows, doors, woodwork, hardware, lighting, masonry, and other structural elements in both traditional and novel ways with an eye toward quality, budget, and period and style appropriateness.
Newer homes, and modern design, benefit from creative reuse as well, as salvaged materials add character and make a home unique.
I am known for high-quality work and construction expertise. I specialize in small to mid-sized projects.
